The Thursday Club

Built in 1927 in Spanish architectural style, our extraordinary Clubhouse sits on a half-acre of stunning ocean view property in Point Loma. The well-tended, often blooming gardens offer an inviting entrance into our charming San Diego event venue.
Inside the clubhouse, you’ll find original, beautifully maintained hardwood flooring, French doors, stained glass windows, and historic details in the chandeliers, crown moldings and finishes. Outside is a wonderland of pristine gardens with a flowing fountain, green arbors, trellises, winding paths, and breathtaking ocean views.

The Thursday Club was formed in 1921 when four young women proposed the beginnings of a club that would combine social activities with worthwhile civic and benevolent projects. It wasn’t until 1927, when The Thursday Club was granted the deed to a large parcel of land on a choice spot in the Sunset Cliffs area of Point Loma by Mr. R.E. Mills of Pantages-Mills-Shreve Company, that they would realize their dream of having a clubhouse to call their own. Today, the clubhouse is renowned as a beautiful San Diego wedding and event venue with timeless Spanish architecture and expansive ocean views.

Over the years, The Thursday Club has grown and thrived, but the core values and traditions remain the same. In fulfillment of our founding members’ vision, The Thursday Club continues to participate in fundraising activities as well as service projects, both large and small.  Certainly the most well-known is the Annual Rummage Sale held in Balboa Park every spring, recognized as the best bargain shopping experience in all of San Diego.  This annual sale offers half of its proceeds to various entities within Balboa Park, the crown jewel of San Diego. The remaining funds raised at the Rummage Sale are granted to San Diego community philanthropies. The Thursday Club is proud to partner with so many well deserving charities to benefit all of San Diego.
